Howard C. Cowlishaw (Birth – September 29, 1916)

Dr. Howard C. Cowlishaw, age 56, San Bernardino, Calif., died Nov. 7th (1972) of injuries received in a one car accident just north of Inkom. Dr. Cowlishaw had practiced medicine at Malad about 20 years ago.

Funeral services were conducted Saturday at Blackfoot and burial was in the Ogden City Cemetery.

Dr. Cowlishaw was born Sept. 29, 1916 at Ogden, Utah to Benjamin and Pearl Quinlan Cowlishaw. He attended school in Ogden and Kemmerer, Wyoming. He graduated from the University of Nebraska Medical School. He practiced medicine in Utah, Idaho and California and was currently on the staff at State Hospital South at Blackfoot. He was a member of the LDS Church, a life member of the Elks Lodge of Ogden, Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity, and the American Medical Association. He married Irma Atkinson Sept. 7, 1944 at Evanston, Wyo.

He is survived by his widow; two sons, Howard Jr. of San Bernardino, and Benjamin of San Francisco, three daughters, Mrs. Daniel (Lynda) Cooper of Laguna Hills, Calif.; Nancy, of San Bernardino, and Mrs. Sally Capucci of San Francisco; a brother, Eugene, of Milpitas, Calif., and four sisters, Mrs. Jim (Doris) Summers and Mrs. Marshall (Carma) Bassham, both of Denver, Colo.; Mrs. Edwin (Virginia) Ikoia of Seattle, Wash., and Mrs. Seymour(Benita) Illion, of Minneapolis, Minn.
