H. Irvin Moss, 96, Rockland, Idaho former Power County Commissioner, died Wednesday, Dec. 13, 1995, in a American falls hospital of natural causes following a long illness.

Irvin was born April 18, 1899 at Chesterfield, Idaho, a son of John Henry and Annie Johnson Moss. A farmer, rancher and sheep man, he moved to Rockland with his parents at1 year of age. He had lived in Rockland for 95 years.

A lifelong member of the LDS Church, he served a mission in the western states from 1920 10 1922, later serving as a member of the bishopric, and at the time of death he was a member of the high priest’s group in the ward.

Always active in civil affairs, he had served as Power County commissioner for 12 years, was a member of the board of directors of the Power County Hospital, was a member of the Idaho State Highway Board, Rockland City Council and the Valley View Cemetery Board.

He married Velma Byington in 1922 in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. She died in 1985.

Survivors include a daughter, Carol Jensen, Las Vegas, Nev.; a daughter-in-law, Fae Moss, Rockland; two sons, Don Moss, Lehi, Utah, and David Moss, Lima Montanta; one son Keith, died in 1969. Also surviving are one sister, Lorene Brown Harrison, Idaho; one brother, Norman Moss, Rockland; 27 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Dec. 16, 11 a.m. At the Rockland LDS Chapel, with bishop Steven R. May conducting. The family will great friends Saturday at the Rockland ward chapel for an hour prior to services. Burial will follow in Valley View Cemetery at Rockland. Funeral services are under the direction of Relyea Chapel, Boise, Idaho, and local arrangements are with Manning-Wheatly Funeral Chapel, 510 N. 12th Ave., Pocatello.
