Henry came to America with his family from Wales in 1869, settling in Malad City, Idaho. Henry and two of his brothers later moved to Montana. At 21, Henry worked as a Wells Fargo stagecoach driver, and drove between SLC, Utah and Helena, Montana. Later he was a sheep rancher. Henry married twice and had at least three children. During his youth he was employed as a rider on several ranches of the county. While still a young man he became engaged in the livestock business on his own, locating on a ranch near Lima. He became one of the leading ranchers of the southern part of the county, but retired from the business in 1910. In 1914, he came to Dillon, where he had since made his home. He had many friends here and throughout the county to whom news of his death brought sincere grief.

He was a member of Evergreen Lodge No. 45, AF&AM at Lima; Dillon Chapter No. 8 R.A.M., and St. Elmo Commandery No. 7, Knights Templar.
