Kaysville Mother Dies Of Auto Crash Injuries

OGDEN– A head-on collision Tuesday in Box Elder County claimed its second victim Wednesday evening.

Mrs. Helen Wright Pingel, 48, of 445 N. 300 East, Kaysville, died at 7:10 p.m. Wednesday [March 1962] in an Ogden hospital.

She was the driver of a northbound auto which was involved in a head-on crash Tuesday about two miles north of Bear River City on U.S. Highway 30.

The driver of the south-bound auto, Mrs. Wilda Fisher McFarland, 45, of Tremonton, died a few minutes after the accident.

The two deaths brought the state total to 28 for 1962, within three deaths of last year’s figure of 31 for the same period.

Mrs. Pingel was born May 19, 1913, in Logan, a daughter of Herschel G. and Beatrice Swinyard Wright.

She lived in Ridgedale and Malad, Idaho, attending school in Malad. She was married to Edward Hyrum Pingel July 3, 1930, in the Logan Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Two years ago they moved to Kaysville.

Mrs. Pingel[sic] was a member of the Kaysville Third Ward where she served as a Primary teacher.

Survivors include her husband, sons and daughters, Edward Ray, Berniece[sic] Faye and Sheila Kay Pingle, all of Kaysville; Melvin H., Tremonton; Robert D., Ft. Gordon, Ga., U.S. Army; Mrs. Gayle (Helen Louise) Hess, Fielding; nine grandchildren; mother, Garland; brothers and sisters, Albert Wright, Richland, Wash.; Preston Wright, Garland; J. Fred Wright, Salt Lake City; Edward H. Wright, Layton; Frank Wright, American Falls, Idaho; Mrs. Richard (Vivian) Anderson, and Mrs. Joseph (Edith) McGregor, both of Provo.
