Helen Marie Jones Farley

FARLEY, HELEN MARIE JONES, November 8, 1952 – December 28, 2004

Helen Marie Jones Farley passed away peacefully at her home in Mukelteo, Washington on December 28, 2004. In her last days she was surrounded and cared for by her two sons and her companion.

Marie was born in Malad, Idaho, to Mary Lou and Keith Jones on November 8, 1952. She was raised and educated in Malad, Idaho and graduated from Malad High School in 1971. She attended Idaho State University in Pocatello, Idaho where she met Mark Farley. They were married on June 30, 1973 in Malad. Married life with Mark allowed them to live in Pocatello, Twin Falls, Nampa, Salt Lake City and finally in the Seattle area. Marie and Mark were later divorced.

After her divorce Royce Furgeson entered her life and he became her loyal companion. Royce and Marie’s relationship was an earthly testimony that kindness and love does not need the legal encumbrances of marriage to exist.

Marie was a dedicated mother and caring for her two sons was the focus of her life. While in the Seattle area and because of her and Mark’s association with mortgage banking, Marie began doing property appraisals. The appraisal business allowed her to reestablish her life as a single mother and to provide for her children’s college. Marie worked doing appraisals until the time of her death and has transferred the business to her two sons.

Marie loved life and was a positive person. Crying was allowed but not feeling sorry for oneself. As God challenged her with medical and financial hardships she remained positive and brave. She also had a talent for making those around her feel important. She was always a lady – one with opinions, but always a lady.

Marie was blessed with life long close friends: Dotty, Dixie, Debby and Ann. This friendship sprouted in Malad and grew with them through life. They had many a “just girls” gathering wherever each lived. Marie was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

She is survived by her sons, Kirk (Ann Marie) Farley and Michael Farley of Mukelteo, WA and her brother, Robert (Ann) Jones of Pocatello, ID. At the time of her death her mother, Mary Lou Jones was also living. She was preceded in death by her father, Keith Jones and her grandparents.

Cremation took place in Washington shortly after death. A memorial service will be held in conjunction with her mother’s service on April 8 at the Horsley Funeral Home in Malad.
