HELEN LOUISE HESS

GARLAND, UT – Helen Louise Hess, 72, passed away February 10, 2012, surrounded by her family at the Ogden Regional Medical Center in Ogden, UT.

Helen was born August 27, 1939 in Malad, ID to Helen Wright and Edward Hyrum Pingel. She married Gayl Hess in Las Vegas, NV on February 12, 1961.

Helen lived many years in Garland, UT and worked at Western Trails Café, Tremonton Sportswear, Van’s Drive Inn and retired from Lazy-boy. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She always loved to take care of her yard and flower gardens. Helen enjoyed many years playing women’s softball on JJ Whites team. One of her other favorite past times was making curtains and quilts.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Edward Ray Pingel, Robert Dee Pingel; in-laws, Lucille Brough and Stirl D. Hess, and one grandson, Braiden James Hess.

She is survived by her spouse, Gayl; children, Cindy Hess, Brigham City, UT; Terri Hess (Kent), Idaho Falls, ID; Larry (Julie) Hess, East Garland, UT; and Cody (Julie) Hess, Honeyville, UT; 16 grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; two sisters and one brother.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Greg Wilding, Dr. Jan Ashdown, Dr. Carl Gray, Dr. James Carlisle and all their staff, as well as the Ogden Regional Medical Center for the love and support that they showed to Helen.

A graveside service will be held February 13, 2012 at the Fielding Cemetery.
