Helen Cook Thomas, 74, of Malad died March 31, 1990 at the LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah.

She was born May 26, 1915 in Rexburg to Charles R. and Hazel Phillips Cook. She was reared and educated in Rexburg and graduated from Madison High School. She attended Ricks Academy, the University of Idaho and received a B.A. degree in education at Utah State University.

She taught at Inkom High School and for five years instructed classes at Malad High School in English and typing.

She married Harold “Brigg” E. Thomas July 19, 1946 in Rexburg. She and her husband moved to Malad at this time.

She was member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served as visiting teacher and in the young women’s organization. She also served as a 4-H Club leader. She was an avid reader and enjoyed all spectator sports.

She is survived by her husband of Malad; two sons, Craig Harold Thomas, Montpelier, and Keith Cook Thomas, Buhl; four daughters, Mrs. Floyd M. (Nedra) Gleed, Malad; Mrs. Charlie (Charlene) Gooch, Evanston, WY; Mrs. Ernest (DeAnn) McCormick, Pocatello and Wendy L. Thomas, Salt Lake City; 18 grandchildren and four great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by six brothers, two sisters and a daughter.

Funeral services were in the Second and Fifth Ward Chapel. Burial was in the Malad Cemetery.
