Joint Funeral for Drowned Victims

Joint funeral services for Hazel and Ardeen Christiansen, who were drowned in the Portneuf river Wednesday (8 May 1940), will be held in the Pleasantview ward chapel, Saturday, at 2 p.m. The little girls, daughters of Mr. and Mrs. Arden Christiansen of McCammon, were drowned when they went out to play near their home. A few minutes later they were missed and their bodies found about 125 feet from the home. All attempts at resuscitation failed.

Hazel was born in Pocatello, Sept. 19, 1934, and Ardeen was born in Samaria, March 28, 1937. Mrs. Christiansen was formerly Miss Hazel Elizabeth Peterson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Niels Peterson of Samaria.

The children are survived by their parents, six brothers and a sister; their grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Peterson and Mrs. J. T. Gittens of McCammon.
