Mrs. Joe F. Petersen Dies Wednesday

Mrs. Hannah Spence Petersen, 68, died Wednesday morning at the Oneida Hospital where she had been the past 10 days following surgery.

Wife of Joseph F. Petersen, she was born at Wellsville, Utah, January 22, 1889, a daughter of Alexander Spence and Hannah Dunkerley Spence. Reared and educated at Wellsville, she married Mr. Petersen in the Logan L.D.S. Temple. November 25, 1908. They moved to Malad in 1924 after living on their farm at Pocatello Valley for 10 years and also at Hyrum, Utah.

A member of the L.D.S. Church, Mrs. Petersen was very active in auxiliary organizations. She served on the Primary Stake Board, Malad Stake, for 17 years and held various offices in the Second ward Relief Society.

Surviving are her husband, Malad; two sons and seven daughters; J. Francis Petersen, Bancroft, Ida.; Mrs. Golden (Rita) Wise, Downey, Ida.; Veldon A. Petersen, Ogden; Mrs. Jerry (Alice) Williams, Pocatello; Mrs. Loren (Opal) Peck, Malad; Mrs. Raymond (Maxine) Horsley, Midvale, Utah; Mrs. William (Verla) Rieske, Murray, Utah; Mrs. David H. (Verna) Jones, Malad; Mrs. Alden (Colleen) Camp, Kerns, Utah; also 26 grandchildren, two great grandchildren, two brothers and one sister, Mrs. A. Y. Satterfield, Pocatello; Alex Spence, Wellsville, Utah; Charles D. Spence, Magna, Utah.

Funeral services will be held 1 p.m., Saturday, August 17th, in the Malad LDS 2nd ward with Bishop Colen Sweeten Jr. of the 4th ward officiating. Friends may call at the family home, 34 East 100 North St., Ma* Friday evening and Saturday **** time of services. Interment will be in the Hyrum, Utah cemetery under the direction of the Benson Funeral Home.
