FUNERAL WEDNESDAY FOR GUY THOMAS

Funeral services were held Wednesday at Malad Fourth LDS Ward Chapel for Guy Owens Thomas, age 71, who died June 30, 1967 at Ogden.

Bishop Earl Gillies conducted the services. At the funeral home, the family prayer was offered by Espy Thomas; at the chapel, the invocation was given by D. LeRoy Thomas and the benediction by Farrell Daniels. Speakers were Estella D. Jones, who read the obituary; J.D. “Cy” Price and laMar Thomas. Special music included a piano solo, Barbara Ann Thomas and two vocal solos, Leora Brown. The accompanist was Iris Barker, who also played the prelude and postlude music.

At Malad City Cemetery, the dedicatory prayer was offered by Ted Richardson. Flowers were carried by the Ladies Auxiliary of American Legion, Faye J. Thomas, president. Casket bearers were Morgan Tovey, Lawrence Jones, D.L. (Bud) Peck, George A. Williams, Gene Dalton, William P. Jones, Walter Davis and Henry G. Jones, with members of WWI Veterans acting as honorary bearers.

Interment was directed by Benson Funeral Home.

He was born April 4, 1896 at Malad City to Llewellyn and Mary Blanche Owens Thomas.

He married Edna Olive Haws Sept. 22, 1917 at Malad City. She died Jan. 25, 1946. He married Lovina Richardson Dec. 20, 1947 at Spanish Fork, Utah. The marriage was solemnized July 28, 1966 in the Logan LDS Temple.

Mr. Thomas attended Malad schools. He was an active member of the LDS Church and was a High Priest in the Brigham City 11th Ward. He was a veteran of World War I, member of American Legion Ernest Jones Post, Malad City, and member of VFW, Brigham City. He moved to Brigham City in 1942.

He worked at Bushnell General Hospital, Brigham City, and at Ogden Defense Depot until retirement in 1958.

Survivors include his widow, Brigham City; three sons, Guy Thomas, Jr., Ogden, UT; Clayne Thomas, Seattle, WA; and Lew H. Thomas, North Ogden, UT; five grandchildren; two brothers and eight sisters: Espy Thomas, Malad City; Claude Thomas, Sun Valley; Mrs. Ethel Williams and Mrs. Ruth Green, both of Los Angeles; Mrs. John (Isabelle) Jones, Stockton, CA; Mrs. Ella Hansen and Mrs. Ray (Mabel) Swain, both of Salt Lake City; Mrs. Russell (Faye) Palmer, Ogden, UT; Mrs. Lula O’Malley, Taft, CA; and Mrs. Lorraine Gholson, Evanston, WY.
