Grant L. Ripley

Ogden-Grant L. Ripley, 78, loving father and grandfather, died Thursday, August 9, 1990 at McKay-Dee Hospital following a courages battle with cancer.

He was born January 21, 1912 in Malad, Idaho, a son of Alonzo C. and Annie Evans Ripley.

He married Vera Louise McKinnon on December 21, 1949 in Ogden. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt lake LDS Temple in 1952. She died Sept. 6, 1988.

He was reared and educated in Malad, Idaho graduating from Malad High School and attending LDS Business College in Salt Lake City. He had lived in Ogden the past 48 years.

He was a member of the Ogden 43rd LDS Ward. He was a High Priest and served a mission in Texas in 1934. He served as a Home Teacher and was an extensive temple worker.

He was in material management at Hill Air Force Base with 27 years of service.

He loved sports.

Surviving are one son and one daughter, Terry S. Fain Sr. and Louise K. Fain, both of Ogden; 13 grandchildren, Preston Fain, Lynda Smith, Curtis G. Fain, Susan L. Hadden, Michael Fain, Cindy C. Espinosa, Terry S. Fain Sr., Julie L. Griffiths, Rosemarie Fain, Robyn R. Fain, Scott B. Fain, Anthony Fain and Darren B. Fain; 31 great-grandchildren, “Beloved Bompy”.

Also surviving is one sister, Mary V. Ripley, Sagamore Hills, Ohio.

Funeral services were held Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd., with Bishop Douglas Felt of the Ogden 43rd Ward officiating.

Interment, Lindquist’s Washing Heights Memorial Park where Military Honors were accorded.
