Gordon Wayne Conger

Gordon Wayne Conger (Birth – 12 June 1923)

Gordon Wayne Conger of Twin Falls, Idaho, formally a resident of Malad City died March 7, 1989 at the L.D.S. Hospital at Salt Lake City, Utah, of an automobile accident.

He was born June 12, 1923 at Boelus, Nebraska, the son of Clinton and Leah Faye Thomas Conger. He graduated from High School at Loup City, Nebraska in 1943.

The family moved to Preston, Idaho, in 1945 where he worked for Utah Power and Light Company.

He married LuRain Rogers March 14, 1946 at Lewiston, Utah. This marriage was dissolved by divorce in 1968.

He started working for the Mountain States Telephone and Telegraph Company April 1949 and retired in 1987 after 38 years of service.

He was located at Malad City for 14 years doing installation and repair work. He was active in many civic and L.D.S. Church activities. He was a Boy Scouts of America Leader for 12 years and was active in the American Red Cross program for several years.

He was transferred to Twin Falls, Idaho, in 1963 with his family.

He married Elsie Serr on September 19, 1968 at Elko, Nevada. At the time of his death he was the President of the United States West Pioneers Retirement Association.

He is survived by his wife of Twin Falls, one daughter, Mrs. Steven (Julie Ann) Ross of Twin Falls; one son, James W. Conger, of Burley; and six grand-children.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one daughter.

Cremation took place at Salt Lake City, Utah. A private graveside service will be held at a later date.
