GLORIA THORPE

Gloria Eliza Hall Thorpe of Samaria died March 15, 1985 in the Oneida County Hospital following a long illness.

She was born September 19, 1923 in Portage, Utah to Albert T. and Edel Alford hall. She grew up and was educated in Portage and also attended Bear River High School.

On November 27, 1942 she married Grant Thorpe in Samaria where they lived until 1956. They lived a short time in Promontory and Honeyville, Utah, and spent 14 years in Bear River City, Utah. They returned to Samaria in 1977 where they continued to live.

She was a talented seamstress and enjoyed quilting and crocheting. She also loved flower gardening. She was a member of the LDS Church where she had served in the Relief Society.

She is survived by her husband of Samaria; three sons and a daughter; Brent H. Thorpe, Brigham City, UT; Lonnie G. Thorpe, Willard, UT; Timmie H. Thorpe and Louise Lokken, Tremonton, UT; six brothers, Otto Hall, Klamath Falls, OR; Carrol Hall, Bear River City, UT; Lee and Lyle Hall, both of Malad; Kay Hall, Inkom, and Lynn Hall, San Jose, CA; 12 grandchildren and one great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, a brother and two sisters.

Funeral services were held in the Samaria LDS Chapel with Bishop David Rex Mills officiating. Burial was in the Samaria Cemetery.
