Glenna Glover Harris

McCammon, Idaho… Glenna Glover Harris, 88, longtime McCammon resident, passed away on Friday May 22, 2009. Glenna was born on February 28 1921, in Burley, Idaho, a daughter of David Crawford Glover and Luella Emma Crump. She attended school in Burley at an early age, then completed her education in March Valley, graduating from Arimo High School in 1938. On December 2, 1939, she married Joseph Glen “Mem” Harris in Pocatello, Idaho. “Mem” and Glenna briefly lived in Pocatello before making their home in McCammon, where she lived for the next 65 years. “Mem” passed away June 17, 1997. Glenna was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, serving in various callings, including Primary/Sunday School Teacher, Relief Society Secretary, Young Women Secretary, Nursery Worker, and for many years, a dedicated Visiting Teacher. She worked as a cook at Mountain View Elementary School in McCammon and also at the Clover Leaf Cafe. She was well known for her delicious cooking, especially her rolls, cookies and jam, she loved to share with others. She enjoyed spending countless hours in her garden and yard, growing beautiful flowers, fruits, and vegetables. She was an avid reader and loved learning, always encouraging her children and grandchildren to make the most of their education. She has been a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who is adored by all of her posterity, and will be greatly missed. Glenna loved the little town of McCammon and she and “Mem” raised their children there. All four children still reside in McCammon, Lana (Owen) Marley, Anita (Gary) Brown, Jon (Valorie) Harris, and Laurel (Brent) Anderson. She is survived by her children; 25 grandchildren, 55 great grandchildren, 6 great-great grandchildren (with 3 more on the way); a sister, RosaLee Riddle of Jerome Idaho; a sister -in-law, Evelyn Harris of Pocatello, Idaho; brother -in-law, Harvey McGuire of Redding, California, Fielding Harris of McCammon, Marshall Harris of McCammon; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother and step-father (James W. Wood); her father,husband; a son-in-law, Lee Hensley; granddaughter, Elizabeth Harris; grandson, Steven Todd Brown; great-grand daughter, Megan Marley and Adalyn Brown; and 2 sisters, Nellie McGuire and Jewell Glover. Funeral services will be held on Thursday May 28th, 2009 at 12 noon at the McCammon Stake Chapel, in McCammon. Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the Horsley’s Marsh Valley Funeral Home, 570 N. Meadowview Dr., Arimo, Idaho, and prior to services from 10:30 to 11:45 at the church.
