Glen Thorpe Evans

EVANS, GLEN THORPE, October 6, 1916 – March 8, 1988

OGDEN – Glen Thorpe Evans, 71, former Malad resident, died March 8, 1988 at the McKay-Dee Hospital of pneumonia. He was born October 6, 1916 in Malad, Idaho, a son of Ben A. and Belle Thorpe Evans.

He married Velma Stone. They were later divorced. He married Phyllis Burbank on July 26, 1947 in Evanston, Wyoming.

He was reared and educated in Malad, Idaho, graduating from Malad High School. He attended Utah State University where he studied welding. He was a member of the LDS Church.

He worked in Seattle, WA until 1945 when he returned to the Ogden area where he resided until his death. He had worked at the Defense Depot in Ogden and retired from the Tooele Army Depot where he had been a heavy duty welder.

He enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Surviving are his widow of Ogden; one son and three daughters, Kenneth Evans, Armstrong, Calgary, Canada; Arleen Turner, Blackfoot, ID; Vicki Evans, Ogden; Glenys Nebeker, Roy; six grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Also surviving is one brother, Rex T. Evans, Malad, ID.

He was preceded in death by one brother and three sisters.

Services were held March 12 at Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park.
