Gladys C. Evans, 20 January 1912

Gladys C. Evans, our loving mother and grandmother died June 13, 2002 at the age of 90. She was born January 20, 1912 in Downey, ID to Soren Albert and Phoebe Mettie Christensen.

Gladys married John O. Evans on November 6, 1929. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan, UT Temple.

They farmed in Marsh Valley area until 1955, at which time they moved to Malad, where they owned and operated Oneida Grocery/Jax Snax until they retired. Gladys’ loves were her family, friends, flowers and handiwork with which she touched many lives.

Gladys is survived by her children: Merrill (GenaLee), Blackfoot; Larry (Karen), Brigham City, UT; Carolyn (Milton) Roche, Tremonton, UT; Norman (Sally), Panorama City, CA; Dean (Mary), Smithfield, UT; Judy (Reed) Teuscher, Boise; Jack (Risee), Tremonton, UT; Sam, Pocatello; Kathy (Wayne) Garner, South Jordan, UT; 44 grandchildren; 109 great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; her dear sister, LuDean (Warren) Ericksen, Pocatello; and many loved in-laws and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Jack, her daughter, Lucille, her son, Glade, nine siblings, most recently her twin sister, Gertrude hatch, who passed away in February.

Funeral services were held June 22, 2002 in the Malad LDS Sixth Ward Chapel. Burial was in the Downey Cemetery.
