Gerald Merlin Yearsley

Gerald Merlin Yearsley, 78, of Malad, passed away Thursday evening, June 25, 1992, at the home of his son in Salt Lake City.

Mr. Yearsley was born July 24, 1913, at Woodruff, Idaho, the son of James Heber and Rosa Janet Howel Yearsley. He was married to Jessie M. Melhus, November 26, 1947 in Omaha, Nebraska. She passed away June 9, 1988.

He had served as custodian in the Malad LDS Fifth Ward, and graduated from the Deaf and Blind School in Gooding, and attended one year at ISU.

He was a high priest in the LDS Church, and served as elders’ quorum President. He was a graduate of the Blind Radio and Repair School in Omaha, Nebraska. He had also graduated from the Piano Tuning School.

He is survived by one son, Earl Melhus Yearsley of Salt Lake City; 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Clifton E. Yearsley, and Lorin V. Yearsley, and four sisters, June Y. Harding, Maude Y. Jensen, Mary Y. John and Carma Y. Peterson.

Funeral services were conducted on Monday, June 29, at 2 p.m. in the Malad LDS Fifth Ward. Burial was in the Malad Cemetery.
