George Stuart dies May 13th

George Thomas Stuart, 76, died Wednesday, May 13, at his home in Stockton, California, after a long illness. He was a former resident of Malad, having been born here August 27, 1904, the son of Thomas and Annie Jones Stuart. he was reared here and received his schooling in the Malad schools.

He married Beth Billingsly, Oct 10, 1925 and their marriage was later solemnized April 23, 1936 in the Logan, Utah LDS Temple. Three children were born to them. They were Pattie, Mary Louise and George Mark. Beth died July 20, 1968. He later married Ella June Hoit January 27, 1970.

George loved hunting and fishing and being out of doors. He was raised on the farm but worked as a telephone lineman after his marriage. In 1929 he came to work for the Western States Utilities Company at Malad, as a power lineman during the time power was first extended to the rural communities of St. John, Pleasantview, Samaria, Cherry Creek and Woodruff.

In 1941, he was transferred to Council, Idaho where he worked for the same company as Serviceman-lineman until 1945 when he moved to Stockton, California where he worked as lineman and line foreman until his retirement in 1969, for the Pacific Gas and Electric Company.

He is survived by his wife Ella, his three children, eleven grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren, one sister, Edith Stuart Harris, Stone, one brother, Thomas Stuart of Snowville, Utah. He was preceeded(sic) in death by one brother Thomas Stuart.

Funeral services were held Monday, May 18, at the Stockton Second Ward LDS Church where Bishop Giles officiated.
