GEORGE LLEWELYN RICHARDS, SR.

George L. Richards Dies At Age 87

George L.[Llewellyn] Richards,[Sr.] 87, died Sunday [September 19, 1954] in a Malad hospital following a lingering illness.

Funeral services were conducted Wednesday at 1 p.m. in the Malad LDS Second ward with Bishop Golden Willie in charge. Interment was in the Malad City Cemetery under the direction of the Benson Funeral Home.

A son of Thomas W. and Charlotte Thomas Richards, he was born at Malad March 10, 1867. Reared and educated at Malad. Mr. Richards was engaged as a wagon freighter from this area to the northwest during his youth. He later farmed in Oneida county. He was married to Sarah Ann Jenkins at Malad March 10, 1892. She died January 3, 1951. Mr. Richards was a member of the LDS Church.

Survivors include the following sons and daughters; Mrs. Elizabeth P. Orgill, Sweet Home, Oregon; Robert G. Richards, San Pedro, Calif.; George L. Richards Jr. and Clifford Richards, both of Malad; Charles R. Richards, Merced, Calif.; Mrs. Vernal J. Gehring, Hood River, Oregon; Ralph J. Richards, Bellingham, Wash.; Waldo J. Richards, Portland, Ore.; 21 grandchildren; one brother, Jacob Richards, Malad.
