Sam Redington, age 53, dies at Salt Lake City Monday

Funeral services will be held in Salt Lake City at noon, Thursday, Oct. 2nd, at 260 East South Temple for George Ivan (Sam) Redington, age 53, who died Monday morning [September 29, 1969] at his home.

Graveside rites will be conducted at the Malad City Cemetery at 3:15 p.m. that day.

Mr. Redington was injured in a car accident near Preston in May, 1963, and has been bedfast for several years.

He was born Feb. 6, 1916, at Swan Lake, Idaho, a son of George and Lucy Hawkes Redington. He married Velma Williams at Malad, April 1, 1935. A member of the LDS Church and Brotherhood of Railway Trainmen, he had worked as a switchman for the Union Pacific Railroad. He was employed in Malad for several years as a meat cutter at Bannock St. Grocery.

Surviving are his widow, sons, Gary Ivan, Sandia Base, N.M.; John David, Scott Gaylynn, both of Salt Lake City; one granddaughter; parents of Clifton, Idaho; brothers, sisters, Lee, Preston; Reid, Pocatello; Boyd, Cedar City; Mrs. Westley Olson, Lewiston, Idaho; Mrs. Jake (Bessie) Brown, St. Ignatius, Montana.
