G.R. THOMAS DIES AT HOME

G.R. (Jim) Thomas, 79, Pocatello, a retired Union Pacific Railroad employee, died at his home June 14, 1979 after an illness.

He was born October 19, 1899 at Malad to Emmett and Martha Jones Thomas. He spent his early life in Malad where he attended schools. He was employed by the City of Pocatello for several years. On August 7, 1935, he began work for the Union Pacific Railroad in the stores department. He retired August 31, 1965. Following his retirement he worked for the City of Pocatello Parks and Recreation Dept. for several years. He served in the US Army from 1941-45 during World War II. He had a great interest in local softball and baseball activities.

On May 3, 1947, he married Ruth Anthony at Dillon, MT. she died in Pocatello March 1, 1966.

He was a member of Keystone Lodge No. 81, AF&AM.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. W. Dean (Dorothy Lee) Worley, Pocatello; three grandchildren; four brothers, Frank and Harold Thomas, both of Malad; David, San Juan Bautista, CA; and Dallas, San Bernardino, CA; four sisters, Mrs. Wilorie Lewis and Mrs. Nelle Hess, both of Malad; Mrs. June Wilson, Bountiful, UT, and Mrs. Marge Archibald, Moab, UT. One brother and four sisters preceded him in death.

Funeral services were held in the Downard Chapel with Rev. J. Russell Houston of Central Christian Church officiating.

Burial was held in the family plot in Mount Moriah Cemetery with graveside rites conducted by Keystone Lodge No. 81 AF&AM, Elwin Terry, worshipful master. Downard Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Those attending the funeral from Malad were: Mrs. Venna Jenkins, Wilorie Lewis, Mr. and Mrs. Frank C. Thomas, Mr. and Mrs. Harold E. Thomas, Mrs. Nedra Gleed, Mrs. Enid Harris and Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Hess.
