Floyd Wilford Dorius

LEWISTON, UT-Floyd Wilford Dorius died peacefully April 11, 2001, shortly after his admission to the Logan Regional Hospital.
He was born in Ephraim, Utah, Dec. 21, 1912 the son of Wilford O. Dorius and Delilah Hansen Dorius. He graduated from Snow College in 1932 and married Laura Carter June 28, 1935 in the Manti Temple. Floyd graduated from Utah State University in 1 937 with a degree in Forestry and Range Management. After college he worked for the Agricultural Adjustment Agency and then the Soil Conservation Service for 33 years in Emmett, Weiser, Malad, and Hailey, Idaho, as Civil Service Technician and Administrator for USDA. On retirement he bought a farm in Lewiston, Utah and enjoyed putting into practice what he had learned and taught. During his 88 years he served his community and church faithfully in many capacities. He served as Bishop of the Hailey ward of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was given the assignment to organize and build a new chapel in Hailey. Floyd and Laura served a mission in British Columbia Canada in 1980-1981. Floyd served faithfully in every church calling in this life and we are sure he will continue setting the example for us in the hereafter.
He is survived by his wife and sweetheart of 66 years, Laura Carter Dorius, and five children: Stanley (Barbara), Soda Springs, Idano; Larry (Sherrill), Kaysville, Utah; Erma Naegle (Reese), Cornish, Utah; Rex D. Dorius, Boise, Idaho; Dave (Sherri), Lewiston, Utah. Floyd and Laura have 25 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren. Floyd was preceded in death by three children: Mark Garth, Robert Floyd, and one still-born son.

Viewing at 6-8 p.m. Friday, April 1 3, at Webb Funeral Home, Preston, ID, 109 E. Oneida and 9:30-10:30 April 1 4, at Trenton-Cornish church, Highway 23 four miles south of Cornish (1200 N. 400 West Trenton). Funeral at Trenton-Cornish church at 11 a.m. April 14. Interment in Ephraim, UT Cemetery Saturday evening
