Floyd M. Copen (Birth 12 Mar 1902/Death 28 Oct 1982)

Floyd M. Copen, 80, of Ely, Nevada died in the William Bee Ririe Hospital, in Ely, Nevada.

Mr. Copen was born March 12, 1902, to Henry and Agnes Miller Copen in Two Mile, West Virginia. Mr. Copen was educated there and in Mendon, Utah.

He married Ruth Goddard on Decem¬ber 23, 1919 in Logan, Utah. The marriage was later solemnized in the Logan Temple July 28, 1925.

Mr. Copen was a resident of the Ely area since 1929 and was a meat cutter for 55 years. During the 1930’s he served with the Ely City Police Department and the White Pine Sheriff’s office. He was a member of the Ely First Ward Church of Jesus Christ of Later-day Saints and enjoyed gardening.

His survivors include his wife Ruth Copen, of Ely; his son Floyd Copen of Elko; nine grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; one brother, Clyde Cop¬en of Salt lake City; two sisters, Dolly Sorenson of Salt Lake City, and Opal Larsen of Mendon, Utah; he was preceded in death by three sons, one daughter, one granddaughter, two brot¬hers and three sisters.

Pallbearers included Donald Copen, Bruce Copen, Rex Gibson, Paul Ander¬son, George Carpenter and Karl Kenyon. Honorary pallbearers were the members of the Ely First Ward High Priest Group.

Funeral services were at the Ely Nevada Stake with Bishop Nolan Howes presiding.

Burial was in the Ely City Cemetery.
