Floyd Lee Reed, 14 July 1915

ST. GEORGE/MIDVALE – Floyd Lee Reed, 86, passed away January 30, 2002 in St. George, UT at his home.

He was born July 14, 1915 in Lark, UT to Henry Reed and Caroline Rindlisbacher.  He married Geraldine Hand, march 12, 1938 in Malad, ID.  They were later sealed in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on December 21, 1938.  Floyd was raised in Lark, UT and attended school there until the 8th grade, at which time everyone from the 9th to 12th grade went to Bingham High School.  He graduated from Bingham High School.  He was an active member of the LDS Church, serving as Elders Quorum president, in the presidency of the Seventy and also served on the Midvale Stake High Council.  He was made Bishop of the Midvale 8th Ward until it was divided, at which time he served as Bishop of the 2nd Ward.

He was self employed working as a miner in the latter part of his life, leasing and mining the lead zinc ore from Kennecott Copper until all mills and smelters were shut down, at which time he retired.  He lived in Midvale, UT for 32 years and moved to St. George, UT in 1985 part time and full time in 1988.

He is survived by his loving wife, Geraldine, daughters, Diane (Jerry) Keyes, “Dixie (Gary) Taylor, Natalie (Steven) Millington, Suzanna (Ivan) Briggs, son, Michael (Susan) Reed, 25 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren, brother, Kenton Reed, Sandy; sister, Dorothy Rushton, Sandy.  He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers, James, Verl and Rodney; sisters, Thelma, Lavina, Wanda, and Phyllis; and a grandson, Stanton.

Funeral services were held in St. George on February 2, 2002.  Additional services will be held on February 4, 2002 in the Midvale 2nd LDS Ward Chapel.  Interment in Larkin Sunset Gardens.
