LOGAN—Florence Pauline Fuller, 76, of Logan, died Saturday, August 15,1992 at LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah following a heart attack.

She was born August 23,1915, in Stone, Oneida County, Idaho, a daughter of Luther C. and Florence Jane Roe Fuller. Her mother died Aug. 16, 1930. She had an older brother, Don Carlos Fuller, who has preceded her in death, and a younger brother, A Norman Fuller of St. George, Utah. Her father married Rosalba Gubler July 5, 1934, so she gained three more brothers and sisters: Mrs. Charles (Jane Rae) Topham, Orem; Dr. Henry Dee and Carol Ann Fuller, Pevely, Missouri; Doyle Gubler and Anna Sue Fuller, St. George; Mrs. Carl (Vanda) Wadsworth, Bountiful; Mrs. Donald (Ada Lu) Hinton, Washington, Utah; and Ross Kevin and Cathy Fuller Issaquah, Washington. She has many nieces and nephews even into the third generation whom she dearly loved. She married Maurice A. Christensen June 14, 1943 in Lewistown, Montana; they later divorced May 27,1947.

She had lived in Stone, Idaho, Garland, Utah and Salt Lake City during elementary years through 7th grade. She took dancing lessons from McCune School of Music and Art in Salt Lake City. She attended 8th grade in Smithfield, 9th and 10th grades in Tooele and graduated from North Cache High School in Richmond, Utah on May 12, 1933. She also graduated from Seminary on April 24, 1932. She started college at Utah State Agricultural College, now U.S.U , and graduated June 5,1939 with a B.S. degree in education. She also received her M.S. from USU. She majored in dance and physical education, and minored in speech and physiology, and taught these subjects through a teaching career of 44 years. She completed her course work for a Ph.D. at University of Utah.

She began her teaching career of 44 years in 1939 at Manti High School; from 1942 to 1951 served as chairman of the women’s division and taught physical education at Dixie College, and the remaining 33 years, 1951-1984, taught at Utah State University. She was an assistant professor in the Department of Health, Physical Education and Recreation. Along with teaching, she directed plays, speech festivals, dance revues, coached sports, taught tap dancing on Saturdays and had pep clubs, drill teams, one of the most renown that she founded is the Aggiettes. At USU, she taught seminars and supervised student teachers. She was division chairman, regional chairman and president of UAHPER and was president three different terms, 1951-52, 1964-65, and 1965-66. She was business manager and editor of UAHPER for two years, member of Constitution Committee and Nominating Committee and was the recipient of the Honor award from the Utah Association of Health, Physical Education and Recreation. She also was secretary of the Southwest District AAHPER. In AAHPER she was a member of Necrology Committee.

She was president of St. George Business and Professional Women’s Club, president of Logan Business and Professional Women’s Club, and held all positions in the club and received the Woman of the Year Award. She was first vice president, second vice president, parlimentarian, district director of the Utah Federation Business and Professional Women. She was program director of Parent Teacher’s Association and President of Faculty Women’s League. Professional organizations she belonged to were: National Education Association, Utah Education Association, American Association for Health, Physical Education and Recreation, Western Society Physical Education for College Women and American Association University Women.
She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and a member of the Logan 9th Ward at the time of her death. She had a variety of church callings from the Primary to the Relief Society. She worked in the Mutual most of her life, Gleaner teacher, stake Laurel advisor, speech, dance and drama director, in both ward and stake, was Cultural Refinement teacher in the Relief Society and at the time of her death she was Home Management teacher in the Relief Society.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Aug. 19, 1992, 12 noon, in the Logan 9th Ward Chapel, 125 East 500 North, with Counselor Bryan Sorenson conducting. Friends may call at Nelson Funeral Home, 162 East 400 North, Tuesday evening 6-8 p.m. and Wednesday, at the chapel, from 10:30-11:30 a.m. Burial, LaVerkin Cemetery, 4 p.m. Thursday. T8/18 N8/18
