Flora Lyle Mills Evans

EVANS, FLORA LYLE MILLS – August 28, 1926 – September 13, 2006
Flora Lyle Mills Evans, 80, a dear mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, passed away September 13, 2006, at Fountain Valley, California.

She was born in Malad, Idaho, August 28, 1926, to Frederick Rex Mills and Lettie Lyle Mills. She attended school in Malad and graduated from Malad High School. She also graduated from the LDS Beauty College in Salt Lake City, Utah.

She married her high school sweetheart William Gordon Evans on May 8, 1946. They were partners with Bill’s father and brother in the operation of the Malad Lumber Yard and built many of the homes in Malad.

She was wonderful homemaker and took care of the needs of her family. They moved to California in 1963 and Flora became a widow in 1969. She then worked at Irvine Junior High School as a cafeteria worker until her retirement in 1996.

As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she served faithfully in many callings. She was an example of faithful living and she had many friends in her wards in Malad and in the Garden Grove 7th Ward in California.

She is survived by her children, Pamela Lee Greer, William Kenneth Evans, Timothy Gordon Evans and Teresa Ann Evans, all of whom live in California. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren and still counting. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and two brothers, Rosell and Deverl Mills.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Sept. 23 at 12:00 noon at the Horsley Funeral Home. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday one hour prior to the service.
