Evan D. Evans

EVANS, EVAN D., February 9, 1902 – September 2, 1976

Evan D. Evans, age 74, of Pacifica, Ca and formerly of Malad, died September 2, 1976 of natural causes in a Burlingame, Ca hospital.

He was born February 9, 1902 at Malad City, a son of William Morgan and Mary Jones Evans. He married Martha Lusk September 13, 1922 in Malad.

He was a ship fitter, ship building and farmer, a veteran of World War I and a member of the LDS Church.

Survivors include his widow, Pacifica, Ca; two sons; William L. Evans, Pleasant View, UT; David E. Evans, Eureka, CA; seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Also surviving are four brothers and three sisters: Raymond Evans, Malad City; Lester Evans, Grass Valley, Ca; Amos Evans, Redwood City, CA; Edward Evans, Mrs. Herman (Leah) Cohl, Mrs. Ann Hall, all of San Francisco, CA and Mrs. A.J. (Bonnie) Cavana, Alameda, CA.

Funeral arrangements by the Benson Funeral Home.

Funeral Services were held September 7 at the Malad 3rd LDS Ward Chapel with Bishop Phil Gillies officiating. Family prayer was offered by Raymond Evans at Benson Funeral Home. At the chapel, David Lusk gave the invocation and Wayne Nielsen the obituary. Speaker was Bishop Hubert Gleed and W. Donald Evans delivered the benediction.

Wilma Fridal played prelude and postlude music. Foster Ipsen sang a vocal selection, Iris Blaisdell was accompanist.

Concluding rites were in Malad City Cemetery where Raiford G. Benson offered the dedicatory prayer.

Third Ward Relief Society, June Ward, president was in charge of flowers. Casket bearers were Glen Bergstrom, W. Donald Evans, Elden Sevy, David Evans, Robert Evans and Calvin Thorpe.
