Fern John Patrick

PATRICK, FERN JOHN, October 10, 1917 – April 6, 2006

Fern J. Patrick, of Helena, Montana, passed away at her home on April 6,2006. She was born October 10, 1917, in Samaria. Her parents were William E. and Sarah Mae Williams John. She attended school in Pleasantview and graduated from Malad High School in 1935.

She attended Albion State Normal School and earned a degree in Elementary Education in 1939. She later completed requirements for a bachelor degree and additional fifth year credits from Western Montana College in Dillon, Montana. Fern was a very successful elementary teacher. She began her career in Almo, Idaho, and later taught in Clancy, Marysville, Canyon Ferry and East Helena, Montana. She retired in 1980.

While attending Albion State Normal she met Eugene Patrick. They were married on December 23, 1939. They lived in Premerton, Washington during World War II. They moved to Montana after the war. They had two sons, William E. and John. Gene passed away in 1986.

She is survived by her son, John; three grandchildren: Kevin, Kellie and Keith Parick; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Merle Noble and Lawana John; one brother, Keith (Eileen) John; and a brother-in-law, Gene Gordon. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; son, Bill; sister, Betty; and brothers, Shirley and Neal.

The funeral service was held in April at Hagler-Anderson Mortuary in Helena, Montana. Interment was at the Sunset Memorial Gardens.
