Evan Stuart, 94, died Friday at Pocatello

Evan Stuart, age 94, died Friday in Hillcrest Haven Convalescant(sic) Center, Pocatello, of a short illness.

He was born Aug. 22, 1880, at Malad, son of George and Kemima Evans Stuart.

He married Mary Williams Rice in 1909 at Samaria. She died Dec. 3, 1943.

Mr. Stuart was a farmer and a member of the LDS Church.

Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Varsel L. (Alice) Christophersen, Malad; three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; several step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Monday at 12 noon in Benson Funeral Home with Bishop Gordon Crowther officiating.

Family prayer was offered by Michael Telford; invocation, Robert L. Christophersen, and benediction, Patriarch Moyle Facer. Speakers were Bishop John Roderick, Bishop Crowther who gave the obituary, and Mary Alice Telford, who read a tribute. Special music included a vocal duet, Carol Daniels and Lana Esplin, and vocal solo, Eldon Corbridge. Myra Jean John was the accompanist and played prelude and postlude music.

President Myron Sorensen offered the dedicatory prayer at Malad City Cemetery.

Malad Second Ward Relief Society, Janet Harding, president, was in charge of flowers.

Casket bearers were Stan Thomas, John Nielsen, John W. Price, Varsel E. Christophersen, Robert L. Christophersen and Charles Buehler.

Benson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
