Funeral Monday for Evan M. Price, 81

Funeral services were conducted at the Samaria LDS Ward Chapel Monday by Bishop Robert Waldron for Evan Morse Price, age 81, who died Friday [Feb. 6] in the Oneida Hospital of natural causes.

Speakers were Bishop Waldron, President Moyle Facer, M. Joe Davis and Dale Price who gave the obituary. Family prayer was offered by Gerald Peacock; invocation, Wendell Lewis; benediction, John J. Evans, Eldon Corbridge presented a vocal solo; Darlene Wheatley, Norma Lee Humphrey and Ronda Hatley, a vocal trio. Hope Price played a selection on the piano, prelude and postlude music and was the accompanist.

At the Samaria Cemetery, Bishop Carl A. Evans offered the dedicatory prayer. Flowers were carried by granddaughters and members of the Samaria Relief Society, Margaret Hughes, president. Casket bearers were E. Platt Price, Hyrum Price, Ronald Price, Merrill Price, Gaylen Price and John L. Williams.

Benson Funeral Home directed the burial.

Mr. Price was born Nov. 2, 1888, at Samaria, a son of John Evan and Emma Morse Price. He married Deloria Ann Peterson. July 2, 1913, in Samaria. The marriage was solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple on June 20, 1917.

Mr. Price was active in the LDS Church as a member of the High Priests Quorum, secretary of the YMMIA, superintendent of the Sunday school and a home teacher.

He was on the boards of the Samaria School District and the Samaria Grazing Association. He was a farmer and had worked for the Malad Valley Creamery Co. from 1924 to 1943.

Survivors are his widow, Samaria; five sons and four daughters, Theon, Heyburn; E. Platt, Samaria; Hyrum and Merrill, both of Ogden; Ronald, Rialto, California; Mrs. Wendell (Bernice) Lewis, Santa Monica, Cal.; Mrs. James (Deltha) Strong.
