EVALYN THORNOCK

Evalyn Hale Thornock, 81 died August 27, 1984 in Pocatello Regional Medical Center following an illness.

She was born in 1902 at Portage, UT, the daughter of R.T. and Lizzie Mae Halford Hale. On June 6, 1928 she married G. Lorton Thornock in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Mr. Thornock died June 2, 1983.

Mrs. Thornock was educated at B.Y. Academy in Logan, UT and at Albion State Normal School. She taught school at Weston, Blazer Lund and Readyville before her marriage.

She was active in the LDS Church, serving as Relief Society president in the 3rd and 10th wards for ten years and as a teacher in the auxiliaries. She was also a member of the Desert Rose Camp, Daughters of Utah Pioneers.

She is survived by four daughters: Mrs. Leo S. (Shirley) Cox, Rock Springs, WY; Mrs. Max B. (Mary) Christensen, Soda Springs; Mrs. Franklin S. (Evalyn) Flint, Tucson, AZ; Mrs. Robert E. (Marilyn) Edwards, Pocatello; a son, G. Hale Thornock, Honolulu, Hawaii; 28 grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; three sisters; Mrs. O.A. (Beatrice) Nielsen, Pocatello; Mrs. Orval (Pearl) Goodsel, Arlington, VA; Mrs. Howard (Emma) Henson, Idaho Falls; a brother, W.D. (Dot) Hale, Chandler, AZ.

Funeral services were held at the Pocatello North Stake Center on Whitaker Road with Bishop Gordon Wilkes of the Pocatello 25th Ward officiating. Burial in the Norton Cemetery at McCammon.
