Eva Lorraine Kirkbride Handy, 23 June 1912

LAYTON – Eva Lorraine Kirkbride Handy, age 90, passed away march 8, 2003 in Layton.

She was born in Freedom, WY on June 23, 1912, a daughter of Charles Franklin and Martha Vinnie Merritt Kirkbride. She married Harley Mendenhall Handy on June 23, 1934 in the Logan LDS Temple. Harley passed away October 25, 2002.

Lorraine had lived in many towns in Utah and Idaho; Smithfield, Dayton, ID; Preston, ID; Logan, Brigham City, Moab, Ibapah, UT; Fort Hall, Malad and Shoshone, ID; Monticello, Fillmore, Roy/Mesa, AZ; and Layton, Utah.

She was an active member of the LDS Church all her life, serving in various positions including Relief Society presidency. Lorraine was a nurses’ aide, a p ink lady, floor supervisor and boarded college students.

She enjoyed oil painting, gardening, crochet/embroidery, sewing and having everything in its place.

Surviving are two sons, Harley K. (Joyce) Handy, Mesa, AZ; James Franklin Handy, Payson, UT; one daughter, Susan Beth (Dean) Bennett, Syracuse, UT; three brothers, Lorus L. Kirkbride, Pleasanton, CA; R. Billie (Mary) Kirkbride, Clearfield, UT; Ronald m. (Eleanor) Kirkbride, Ogden; three sisters, Norma Knudson and Ardella (Purser) Boswroth, Preston, ID; and Vera May Pinson, Smithfield, UT; and the pride of her life, ten grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, husband, Harley handy and son, Michael Handy, four brothers, Franklin C., Charles D., James E., and Samuel K. Kirkbride.

Funeral services will be held March 13, 2003 at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary. Interment, Franklin, ID.
