Eva S. Parkinson dies September 11

Mrs. Eva Irene Stephenson Parkinson, 79, formerly of Portage, Utah, died Tuesday, September 11, 1984, in the Pocatello Regional Medical Center.

She was born August 7, 1905, in Minden Mines, Mo.[sic], a daughter of Augustus J. and Dana Wells Stephenson.

She lived with her parents in Missouri, Kansas, New Mexico, Wyoming, Utah, and Idaho where her father worked for the railroad.

She was a graduate of McCammon High School in McCammon, Idaho, and was a post graduate of Bear River High School in Tremonton. She also graduated as a licensed practical nurse from St. Anthony Hospital in Pocatello.

She married Thomas Dean Parkinson on July 16, 1928, in Ogden. The marriage was solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple July 3, 1962. Mr. Parkinson died August 19, 1967.

She lived her married life in Pocatello where she worked as a nurse in the Pocatello hospitals.

She was an active member of the LDS Church. She held many positions, including Relief Society homemaking leader and visiting teacher.

She was active in civic affairs and was past president of Order of the Moose Lodge Auxiliary and past president of the Union Pacific Old Timers Auxiliary in Pocatello. She enjoyed knitting, fishing and being a home nurse.

Surviving are one son, Adron[sic] Dean Parkinson, Pocatello, and one sister, Mrs. Raifordsic Benson, Malad, Idaho.

Funeral services were held Friday, September 14, at the Pocatello 2nd Ward Chapel with Bishop Eldon M. Payne officiating. Interment was in the Mountain View Cemetery.
