Eugene W. Thorpe, 94, was reunited with his sweetheart, Helen, on January 28, 2015. He was born March 16, 1920, in Pleasant View, Idaho, to Thomas and Lucy Walker Thorpe. Eugene married Helen Hansen in 1942. They celebrated 68 years together, before Helen’s passing in 2011. Eugene graduated from Malad High School in 1938 and then worked on the family farm. In 1940, he enlisted in the Army Air Corp. where he studied to be an aviation and munitions photographer. Eugene spent a lifetime as a photographer in the Air Force and Civil Service. As a Veteran, he had an immense love for his country and a great appreciation for those who served. Eugene continued his love of photography after retirement, mainly as a hobby. He captured countless memories of family weddings and events with his camera throughout his life. He enjoyed hunting and was quite the marksman, even at the age of 94. For the last two years, Eugene lived with his daughter and son-in-law in Apple Creek, Ohio.

Eugene is survived by his children, Dennis (Margaret) Thorpe, Malad; Gerald (Donna) Thorpe, Layton and Diana (Dennis) Solomon, Apple Creek Ohio; sisters, Ione Latour, Malad and Lovina Spencer, Sylmar, California.
