EUGENE THOMPSON
EAST CORINNE – Eugene Thompson of Brigham City, Utah, age 79, died September 18, 1986. He was born January 4, 1907, in East Garland, Utah, a son of James Peter and Lezetta Oyler Thompson. He married Miriam Selman, Jan. 13, 1926 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
He was reared and educated in Tremonton. He attended Bear River High School. He graduated from Barber’s Training School in Salt lake and worked as a barber in Ogden. He worked as a carpenter in Roosevelt, Tremonton and Brigham City area. He later moved to Corinne in 1931 where he owned and operated his farm including a stock and dairy operation and row cropping.
He was a member of the LDS Church, was a Seventy in the Corinne 1st Ward. He served a home mission for two years, served as a home teacher and was a member of the Old Folks Committee, Sunday School Superintendent and was a home teacher at present.
He was a member of the Farmer’s Union.
Survivors are his wife of Corinne; one son and three daughters, Mrs. Glenn (Thelma Ruth) Manning, Garland; Mrs. DeVerl (Carol) Barker, E. Corinne; Grant Lyle Thompson, Pacific Palaisades, CA; and Mrs. Gary (Jean Kathryn) Hill, Malad, ID.
One brother, Miles O. (Mike) Thompson, Tremonton, UT, two half brothers, Dale J. Thompson, Charlottesville, VA; Owen Thompson, Atlanta, GA; 17 grandchildren and 34 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.
Funeral services were Tuesday at the Corinne LDS Chapel with Bishop’s Counselor Brian Hardy officiating. Interment was in the Brigham City Cemetery.
