FUNERAL MONDAY FOR MRS. THOMPSON

Funeral services were held Monday for Mrs. Ella Leigh Merrell Thompson, age 81, who died February 23, 1968 at Oneida Hospital.

Bishop Earl Gillies conducted the service. Family prayer was offered by Alferd Olsen; the invocation at Malad Fourth LDS Ward Chapel, by Elden Archibald, and the benediction by Lyde Facer. Speakers were Bishop Gillies, who read the obituary; Bishop Arthur Servoss and President S.A. Hendricks. Fern Willie played a violin solo and Helen E. Jones and Leora Brown presented vocal solos. Accompanists were Cherrel Budge and Myra Jean John, who also played prelude and postlude music. Dedicatory prayer at Malad City Cemetery was offered by Raiford G. Benson. Flowers were arranged by members of the fourth Ward Relief Society, Roma Facer, president. Casket bearers were nephews, Chester Edwards, Glen Edwards, Joe Leigh, Jr., Fenley Leigh, Mark Peterson and Dale Willie.

Interment was directed by Benson Funeral Home.

Mrs. Thompson was born August 19, 1886 at Malad City, a daughter of Joseph and mary Hyde Leigh.

She was married to Fenley Merrell November 26, 1905 at Malad City; the marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple Feb. 19, 1919. Mr. Merrell died June 23, 1944. She was married to John A. Thompson Sept. 26, 1950 at Reno, NV.

Mrs. Thompson received her education in the Malad schools and was an active member of the LDS Church. She was a charter member of the Clio Club.

Survivors include her widower, Malad City; one daughter, Mrs. James D. (Marguerite) Pierce, Provo, UT; two grandchildren and one brother, Harold H. Leigh, Salt lake City.
