FUNERAL TODAY FOR EPHRAIM THORPE

Impressive funeral services for Ephraim Thorpe, 59, who died April 6, 1942 of heart and kidney trouble at the family home were held at the Third Ward Chapel with Bishop LeGrande Horsley presiding.

Mr. Thorpe was born march 3, 1883 at Samaria, ID, the son of Joseph Thorpe and mary mason Thorpe. Mr. Thorpe moved to Malad about 38 years ago. He as married to Jeanette Thomas, December 16, 1903, and to this union twelve children were born, ten of whom survive. Mr. Thorpe was engaged in farming for the most part of his life and has for the past four and one-half years served as a Malad police officer.

Surviving are his widow, children, Neal, Tommy, Mrs. M. Nielsen, Clem, all of Ogden, UT; Mrs. Lela Doutre of Blue Creek, ID; Loren, Nadine, Donna and Mrs. Ruth Smith of Malad. The following brothers and sisters: Mrs. Elizabeth Josephson and Thomas Thorpe of Pleasantview, ID; Joseph Thorpe, Edna Thorpe and Mrs. Anna T. Jones of Malad; Mrs. Myrtle Facer of Tyhee, William Thorpe and Catherine Hartley of Ogden, Ray Thorpe, Blackfoot, and Urilla Christian of Garland.

Speakers at the funeral were H.I. Mills, F.E. Richards, S.A. Hendricks and Bishop Horsley. Musical numbers consisted of solos by Mrs. Ruth Davis, Miss Peggy Thomas and Stillman Harris.

The invocation was given by Spencer Allen and the benediction by Edward Crowther. The grave was dedicated by Thomas D. Evans and burial was in the Malad City Cemetery.
