Emma Lue Williams Goodman, 9 February 1930

Emma Lue Williams Goodman, 73, passed away December 1, 2003 at the Oneida County Hospital, following a long illness.

She was born February 9, 1930, in Layton, UT, the fifth child of George and Annie Williams. She attended schools in Layton and Malad, ID. She earned a bachelor’s degree in Library Science from Ventura College in Ventura, CA.

She married John Harold Goodman on June 30, 1949 in the St. George LDS Temple. The couple took up residence in Ventura County, CA, where John worked as an electrician. There they were blessed with five children. After the children were raised, Emma worked as a librarian for the Construction Battalion Center in Fort Hueneme. In 1986 they moved to Malad, ID after they both retired.

Emma was a loving wife and mother. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of latter-day Saints, serving in many different capacities. Among them, she worked for a time at the Malad Family History Center. She belonged to the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. One of her favorite pastimes was tending her beautiful irises in her garden.

Surviving are her husband, jack; five children: John (Terri) Goodman, Malad; Karen (Dave) Woodley, Freasure park, CA; Jim Goodman, Malad; Peggy Hales, Ventura, CA; Dave Goodman, Ventura, CA; 15 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. She is also survived by one brother and two sisters: Neal Williams, Malad; Nellie Helzer, Salt Lake City, UT; and Donna Nielson, Pocatello, ID. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Acey and Bobby Williams.

Funeral services will be conducted December 5 in the Malad 1st Ward. Burial will be in the Malad City Cemetery.
