EMMA K. TAYLOR

Emma K. Taylor, 92, longtime Pocatello resident, died Wednesday afternoon, August 2, 2000, at the Oneida Hospital in Malad.

She was born December 20, 1907, in Katzback, Ukraine, Russia, to George and Christina Stickel Kohler. She came to America in 1912, to Ellis Island. She attended school and graduated from Burley High School. She came to Pocatello and attended Gate City Business College for one year.

Emma married Troy Taylor July 9, 1933, at Star, Idaho. He preceded her in death March 4, 1979. They moved to Pocatello, where her husband started working for the Union Pacific Railroad.

Emma was an active member of the Central Christian Church, where she served as Sunday school secretary, was a member of the church choir and member of the Christian Women’s Fellowship. She was also a member of the Union Pacific Railroad Club, AARP local chapter, and the Old Time Fiddlers. Emma loved music, singing, knitting, sewing and working in her flower beds.

Emma is survived by one son, Troy Leland Taylor (Lorraine); one daughter, Roxie Ann Taylor Treasure (Bob); six grandchildren; two sisters, Kathryn Nielson, Rupert, Idaho, Esther Cooper, Seattle, Washington; one brother, Paul Kohler, Portales, New Mexico. She was preceded in death by her husband, Troy, and her parents.

Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, August 8, 2000, at the Henderson-Cornelison funeral Chapel in Pocatello, with the Rev. Roger Bray of the Central Christian Church officiating. Interment followed in Restlawn Memorial Gardens, Pocatello.
