EMIL LAVAR MOSER

POCATELLO – Emil LaVar Moser, 79, Pocatello, died Tuesday, April 12, 2005, at home, surrounded by his family, after battling multiple sclerosis since 1970.

He was born February 18, 1926, in Preston, Idaho, to John David Moser and Alene Taylor. He was the seventh of eight children (five boys and three girls). He lived his younger years in Weston, Idaho, attending the Silver Star School. In the eighth grade the family moved to Cove, Utah, on a share-cropping farm up the canyon. When World War II broke out the family left the farm and moved to Ogden, Utah, where he graduated from high school and then joined the Air Force.

He married Audry Tubbs November 13, 1945, in Riverside, California. They lived in Ogden for awhile and then moved to Pocatello. He went to work for Carl E. Nelsen Construction, where he learned to love the construction business. He also worked for Blair Fry Motor as a mechanic in the winter. It was hard moving so much, so he went to work for the Pocatello Fire Department in 1952. On his days off from the fire department he would work in the furniture moving business for Nicholas Moving and Storage and Lee Hawkes Van Lines.

In 1972, he was forced to take a disability retirement with the fire department and was able to do this with the help of his firefighter brothers, whom affectionately called him “Mo”.

As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints he served in many callings, including the bishopric, Scouting, clerk and home teacher.

LaVar was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Oma Miles and Hazel Cazier, and two brothers, David and Dean Moser. He is survived by his loving wife, Audrey, of 59 and one half years (who cared for him all these years like no one else could); two children, nine grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren, son, Allen Lynn Moser (Carol Dawn), and their family, daughter, Melanie Lott (Darwin) and children, Landon, Taylor, Brayden, Ashlie, and Kaitlyn, daughter, Michelle Clayton (Nathan) and children, Aanjel and Jairen, son Mark Moser (Stacie) and children, Baylie and Kylie, daughter, Marissa Critchfield (By) and children Kayla, Blake and Rachel, one daughter, Shauna Quick (Kim) and their family, son, Ryan Quick (Andrea), and son Connor, son, Shane Quick (Elizabeth), and children, Cameron, Shaylee and daughter due in September, son, Lance Quick, daughter, Audra Quick and son, Carson, and daughter Abby Quick; one sister, EmaJean Golightly; and two brothers, Elmer and Darrell Moser.
