Elmer Parley Bright

Bright, Elmer – 4 April 1900

Elmer Parley Bright, 95, passed away Monday, November 13, 1995, at the home of a daughter , Ilene England, in Pocatello following an illness.

Mr. Bright was born April 4, 1900 in Richmond, Utah, the first child of John Parley Bright and Ellen Caroline Anderson Bright. He was reared and educated in the Downey area, where he made his home most of his life. In Downey he had been a farmer and rancher for many years.

In 1921, 1922, and 1923 he served an LDS mission in Mexico.

He married Mary Emily Taylor in the Salt Lake City, Utah LDS Temple Oct. 8, 1924. His beloved wife passed away in 1947. He married Melvina Burnside Larsen in 1949, and she preceded him in death in 1972.

In recent years, Mr Bright had made his home in Pocatello, then Idaho Falls.
He was always a busy man, handy as a carpenter, and as a excellent gardener. An active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints, he was a bishop as well as in many other callings.

Surviving him are three daughters Ilene England, Pocatello, Patricia and Lyle Johnson, Pocatello, Virginia and Richard D, Christensen, Downey; two sons, John R. and Parcia Bright, Pocatello, Richard P. and Jean Bright, Downey; a stepson, Clint Laursen, St. George, Utah; two stepdaughters, Phyllissss Waddell, Kuna, and Bonnie Huntsaker, Roy, Utah; three brothers, Kenneth Bright, Donald Bright, all of Malad; 27 grandchildren, 96 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters and two brothers.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 16, 1995 in the Mink Creek LDS Ward Chapel, 8200 Portneuf Road, Pocatello, with Bishop Michael England, a grandson officiating. The family will receive friends
