Elmer Darrell Lewis, 87, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 8, 2022 in Brigham City, Utah. He was born on June 8th, 1935 to Elmer J and Clarice Watson Lewis in Smithfield, Utah.
Darrell was raised at the family homestead in St John, Idaho. While there, he enjoyed being a farm hand and raising short horn cattle. He attended schools in Malad, Idaho, graduating from Malad High School in 1953.
Darrell met the love of his life, Wanda Parris of Virginia, Idaho. They were married June 27, 1955 in Downey, Idaho. The marriage was later solomnized in the Idaho Falls temple in 1958. They were happily married just short of 60 years. They lived in Twin Falls, Idaho, Malad, Idaho, and Tremonton, Utah. Wanda passed away June 29, 2014. They were the parents of four children. Darrelene Kay (deceased), Shelly Rae, Pamela Faye, and Martin Darrell.
Darrell owned and operated the OK Tire Store in Tremonton Utah from 1959 until 1997 when he retired. He built a successful and reputable business there, gaining lifetime customers and friends.
He was a lifetime member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, having served faithfully as a stake High councilor, and bishop of the Tremonton 4th and 1st wards. He and Wanda served as temple workers in the Logan Utah temple for seven years. After Wanda’s passing, Darrell served faithfully as a temple worker in the Brigham city Temple. Until he was 85 years old. His faith and family came first to him.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Wanda, daughter Darrelene, his parents, Elmer and Clarice, a sister, Patricia Lewis Tripp, grandchildren, twins Brady and Whitney Hamilton.
He is survived by his children, Shelly Hamilton, ( Les Mullins ), Pamela, (Bruce) Malmberg, Martin, (Jennifer) Lewis, brothers Terry, (Norma Jean) Lewis, Steven Lewis, ten grandchildren, and twelve great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 15, 2022 at 11:00 A.M. Viewings will be held on Sunday, August 14, 2022 from 5-7 P.M. and prior to the service at the church from 9:30-10:30 A.M. All services will be held at the Tremonton Stake Center (660 N 300 E. Tremonton, Utah). The service will be livestreamed and may be accessed below.
Interment will be at the Riverview Cemetery, Tremonton Utah.
