TOMMY TAYLOR

Elmer Brown “Tommy” Taylor, 64, Malad, died June 28, 1983 in the VA Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah.

He was born Oct. 19, 1918 in Spanish Fork, UT to Gilbert C. and Annie Louise Brown Taylor. He grew up and received his education in Spanish Fork and was a graduate of Spanish Fork High School. He also attended college at Utah State in Logan where he studied business and accounting.

He married Annie DePhane King Jan. 26, 1938 in Spanish Fork, UT. The marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple, April 23, 1941. After their marriage they moved to Long Beach, CA where he was a foreman and welder for Consolidated Steel. He spent two years in the military during World War II. Then they moved to Malad where he owned and operated a café, Tommy’s Lunch, for 19 years. He then began with the Oneida County Road and Bridge Department where he worked until his death.

He was active in the American Legion and was a member of the Ernest W. Jones Post No. 65 in Malad. He had served as commander on two different occasions and also as Idaho state vice commander. He served as vice president of the Jr. Chamber of Commerce. He was a member of the LDS Church and served in the YMMIA presidency and as a home teacher.

Survivors include his wife, Malad; three daughters, Mrs. F. Brent (Janeece) Stock, Bountiful, UT; Mrs. Gary L. (Marlys) Carter, West Yellowstone, MT; and Mrs. Gerald J. (Shaundel) Richards, Salt lake City, UT; eight grandchildren; his mother, Spanish Fork, UT; two brothers, Allen C. Taylor, Victorville, CA and Blake G. Taylor, American Fork, UT; two sisters, Mrs. Robert (Louise) Moore, Payson, UT, and Mrs. Clyde (Lenice) Dawson, Salt Lake City, UT.

Funeral services will be Tuesday at the Malad LDS Second Ward chapel with Bishop Howard May officiating. Burial will be in the Malad City Cemetery.
