Ella D. Evans Parker

PARKER, ELLA D. EVANS, October 5, 1923 – November 12, 2006

POCATELLO – Ella D. Evans Parker passed away on November 12, 2006 at the Portneuf Care and Rehab Center in Pocatello, surrounded by the family she loved.

Ella D. Evans parker was born October 5, 1923, in Malad, Idaho, to Jonah Leslie Morse Evans and Sarah Ella Daniels. Ella loved growing up on the homestead in Malad, and had many fond memories of the big garden and all the fruit trees. She enjoyed sleigh rides down the hill by the mill and the fun times trying to fish the creek at Crowthers Mill. As a young girl, she loved the anticipation of Christmas and was always peaking to see if Santa had arrived yet.

Ella loved her sisters, Mildred and Evan very much, and was very lcose to them both. In 1933, Ella’s family moved to Pocatello, when her father secured employment with the Garrett Transfer Company. In the sixth grade, her father was transferred to Los Angeles for a few years with the family, and they couldn’t wait to get back to Pocatello.

She attended Emerson Elementary as well as Jefferson Elementary, Irving Jr. High School and Pocatello High School

Her first job was as a telephone dispatcher for yellow Cab Company and in 1950 she met the love of her life, Stanley Willard Parker. They were married on October 31, 1951.

Ella held many positions within the LDS Church, and she was a past member of the Credit Women’s International and National Secretaries Teepee Chapter as well as past president of the VFW Women’s Auxiliary.

Ella loved the outdoors and spent many days with her family on summer trips, camping and fishing with her husband and five children.

She loved people and was always willing to lend a hand to those less fortunate. She was very involved with her daughters’ extracurricular school activities, including extensive assistance with their drill team. She was a master seamstress. With a wonderful sense of humor, she would come up with jokes that left you laughing.

Ella was preceded in death by her sister, Mildred Rutton; brother, Melvin D. Evans; son, Leslie Gene Parker; and her grandson, Alex Stanley Cano. Survivors include her loving husband, Stanley W. Parker of Pocatello; son, Kevin Stanley Parker (Lisa) of Meridian, Idaho; Pamela Steele of Rexburg, Idaho, Nancy Parker (art) of Moab, Utah, and Diane Cano (Raul) of Pocatello and sister, Eva Packard (Jerry) of Pocatello. She is also survived by nie grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Monday, November 20, 2006 at 11 a.m. in the Cornelison-Henderson Funeral Chapel, Pocatello. The family will receive friends Sunday evening, November 19, 2006 from 7-9 p.m. and one hour prior to services Monday in the funeral home. Interment will be in the Mountain View Cemetery, Pocatello.
