Mrs. Matthews Funeral Set Wednesday

Mrs. Elizabeth R. Matthews, 99, Grantsville’s oldest resident, died Saturday at 6 p.m. at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Jasper D. Brown. (no date)

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 1 p.m. in the Grantsville Second Ward chapel, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Bishop Marvin Barrus will officiate.

She was born in Kaysville, April 12, 1851, a daughter of Edward and Mary A. Whitesides Hunter. She married George Matthews, Feb. 12, 1872.

Mrs. Matthews was widely known in Tooele County as “Aunt Tibble”.

Survivors are: two daughters and three sons, Mrs. Jasper D. Brown, George Morris Matthews; William E. Matthews, and P. Pratt Matthews, Grantsville, and Mrs. Aziel L. England, Tooele. She had 29 grandchildren and 39 great-grandchildren.

Friends may call at the Tooele Mortuary Tuesday morning and at the home of Mrs. Brown, Wednesday from 10 a.m. until time of services

Burial will be in the Grantsville Cemetery.
