Rites Today For Mrs. Elizabeth Hughes
Funeral services are being held today, Thursday, at the Malad Third Ward LDS chapel for Mrs. Elizabeth Jones Hughes, 78, who died Sunday in the Oneida Hospital following a cerebral hemorrhage.
Mrs. Hughes was born Sept. 16, 1882, at Hyrum, Cache County, Utah, a daughter of William and Mary Evans Jones.
She was married to James Hughes in November, 1900, at Malad City. Mr. Hughes died in 1949.
A member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she was a Relief Society visiting teacher for several years.
She came to Malad when a small child and spent her entire life here.
Mrs. Hughes is survived by four children, James Hughes, Ogden, Utah; Williams Hughes, Salt Lake City; and Daniel Hughes and Mrs. Dale Vaughan, both of Malad.
Ten grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren and four sisters also survive. The sisters are Mrs. Ruth McKay and Mrs. Emrys Thomas, Salt Lake City, Mrs. Jane Evans, Malad, and Mrs. Ellen Nieffenegger, Wendell.
