Elease Kern Purrington

SUN CITY WEST, Ariz. – Elease Kern Purrington, 79, died Thursday, January 20, 2000 in Sun City West, Arizona.

She was born January 14, 1921 in St. John, Idaho, a daughter of Jacob and Lile Burbank Kem.

In August of 1941, Elease married Hewitt Strong. They were later divorced in 1963. She married Frank M. Purrington in Nevada. Frank died August 6, 1993.

She was reared and educated in Malad, Idaho, graduating from Malad High School. She obtained her Certified Professional Secretaries (CPS) Designation, the third person in Utah to obtain this designation. She was a long time resident of Roy and lived in Sun City West, Arizona for the past few years.

Elease was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. During the past seven years she served as Assistant Stake Coordinator for the Extraction Program.

She retired from Hill Air Force Base.

Surviving are two sons and two daughters. Ronald (Chris) Strong, Phoenix, Ariz.; Rick (Dee) Purrington, Kalispell, Mont.; Geri (Reed) Beck, Fair Oaks, Calif.; Lynda (Nolan) Karras, Roy; 19 grandchildren.

Elease is also survived by one brother and two sisters. Earl Kern, Bountiful; Fay McDugal, Sun City, Ariz.; Jennie Beutier, Clearfield.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Purrington; her parents and one brother, Charles Kern.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. with John Beutier officiating.

Friends may call at the mortuary on Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday Noon to 12:45 p.m.

Interment Linquist’s Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Road.
