Effie Elenor Showell

STONE, Idaho–Effie Elenor Young Showell, 66, of Stone, died Friday at the Tremonton Valley Hospital of natural causes.

She was born Nov. 27, 1904, in Mona, a daughter of Rueben D. and Elenor Jane Kay Young.

She was reared and educated in Utah County schools and attended Brigham Young University. She was a graduate of Utah State University in Logan.

She married Rollin Showell on Dec. 22, 1926, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They made their home in Stone.

She worked as a school teacher, teaching in Mona, Deweyville and Snowville.

A member of the LDS Church, she served as ward organist for many years and was a Relief Society visiting teacher, also served as secretary of the Primary.

Survivors are her husband, of Stone, three sons and a daughter, Jess R. Showell, Steven E. Showell and Sidney D. Showell, all of Stone, and Mrs. Eugene (Jeanine) Hansen, Salt Lake City; 15 grandchildren; a brother and two sisters, Jess Young, Mona; Mrs. Marie Strong, Los Angeles, Calif., and Mrs. Lew (LaVon) Averett, Salt Lake City.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 1 p.m. at the Curleu(sic) LDS Ward chapel in Snowville. Friends may call at the Rogers Mortuary in Tremonton Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. and at the Curleu(sic) Ward Relief Society room Tuesday after 11 a.m.

Interment will be in the Snowville Cemetery.
