Edna Marie Thomas Fullmer

POCATELLO – Edna Marie Thomas Fullmer, 88, of Pocatello, a longtime resident of Tetonia, Idaho passed away Saturday, September 5, 1998, in the Bannock Geriatric Center following an extended illness.

She was born February 10, 1910, at Malad City, Idaho, the daughter of Richard Edmond and Lucy Hansen Thomas.

When she was a young girl, her family moved to Teton Valley, where she attended elementary and high schools. On January 8, 1931, she married Justin DeWitt Fullmer at Clawson, Idaho. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on November 22, 1977.

Edna worked many years as a cook at the Tetonia Elementary School. For many years, she worked summers in Grand Teton National Park for the Park Service and for several concessionaire enterprises.

She loved her summers and particularly working with tourists from all over the world. Many long-lasting friendships were developed through these work relationships at Grand Teton.

Edna was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She had a great love for children and taught them in Primary for over 50 years. During the time she served as Relief Society president, she continued as a Primary teacher. She was a visiting teacher for over 60 years.

She was an accomplished seamstress, crocheter and quilter. She has made hundreds of hand-stitched quilts, including one for each of her children and grandchildren. All of her posterity has received one of her handmade quilts or shawls.

Survivors include three daughters and five sons: Darrell D. (Ruth) Fullmer, Nampa; Erma Jean (Don) Fredrickson, Hansen, Idaho; Edna Marie (Jack) Caresia, Jackson, Wyoming; Gary E. (Judie) Fullmer, Phoenix, Arizona; Myron P (Faylene) Fullmer, Friendswood, Texas; Marjorie Deon Cole, Idaho Falls; Norris T. (Wendy) Fullmer, Pocatello; Boyd L. (Marsha) Fullmer, Lehi, Utah; two sisters, Lillian Spencer and Thelma Jackson, both of Idaho Falls; 31 grandchildren, 66 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, four brothers, three sisters and two great-granddaughters.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, September 10, 1998, at noon in the Tetonia LDS Chapel with interment in the Cache-Clawson Cemetery near Tetonia. Bishop Greg Mortensen will officiate.
The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. at Manning-Wheatley Funeral Chapel, 501 N. Twelfth Ave. On Thursday, friends may call at the Tetonia LDS Chapel from 10:30 a.m. until 11:45 a.m. prior to services.
