SERVICES HELD FOR MRS. EDNA THOMAS

Impressive funeral services were held Wednesday at the stake tabernacle with Bishop W. W. Thomas presiding for Mrs. Edna Haws Thomas, wife of Guy Thomas, who died January 25, 1946 in the Brigham City hospital. Mrs. Marteal Hendricks played the prelude and postlude, Blaine haws, brother of Mrs. Thomas, offered the prayer at the home.

The speakers were Rudy Reugsegger, Senator J.D. Price and Bishop Thomas. Musical numbers consisted of a vocal trio by Olive Fifield, Myrtle Taysum and Visa Germer; duet, Morgan Tovey and Lester Tovey; vocal solos, Margaret E. Jones, Melvin Atkinson and Jenk Palmer. S.M. Powell, Mrs. Hendricks, Mrs. Helen Ossmen, Mrs. Fern Willie and Mrs. Melvin Atkinson were accompanists. Prayers were offered by Jess Hughes and Carrel Swartz.

Following the services, the body was taken to the funeral home to await the arrival of her son, Sgt. Claine Thomas, who came Wednesday evening from Seattle, having just returned from Japan to the United States.

Mrs. Thomas was born Feb. 3, 1900, at Elwood, Box Elder County, a daughter of Gilbert S. and Veda J. Hansen haws. She lived in Box Elder county until she was ten, when her family moved to Malad, Idaho.

She was married to Mr. Thomas on Sept. 21, 1917 at Malad, where she lived until coming to Brigham City three years ago.

While in Malad she was an active worker in the LDS Church where she served as ward organist and as an officer and teacher in the Primary.

She served as president and secretary of the American Legion Auxiliary and was pianist in a Malad orchestra for several years.

While in Brigham City she was employed in the diet kitchen at Bushnell general hospital until her illness.

Surviving besides the husband are three sons, Guy O. Thomas, Jr., Brigham City; Clayne H. Thomas, U.S. Army; Liewellyn H. Thomas, Brigham City; also her father, Ogden, and the following brothers and sisters: Gilbert Cleone Haws, John M. Haws and Mrs. Jane H. Brown, Ogden; Earl H. Haws and Blaine E. Haws, San Diego, CA; Mrs. Ruth H. Wight, Salt Lake City; H.B. Haws, Heyward, CA and Mrs. Mattie Garfield, Brigham City.

Among those from out of town who attended the funeral were: Blaine haws, San Diego, CA; Mr. and Mrs. Henry Garfield, Brigham; Mr. and Mrs. Mac Brown, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Haws, Mr. and Mrs. Cleon Haws, Mr. and Mrs. Sylvester Owens and daughter and son, Mr. and Mrs. Russell Palmer, Ogden.
